Reading -The Cay, E-portfolio Sample - Comprehension

Write an “ITTM” for the following sentences:

After a moment of silence, I heard the sizzle of the water as Timothy doused the torch.
I think that means that as Philip waited in quietness he heard the barbeque-like sound of the liquid as his friend put out the torch.

For more than a week, I knew he had been labouring over nails to turn them into fish hooks.
I think that means that for more than 7 days Timothy had been fiddling with sharp pointy metal things to turn them into things to catch fish with.

Roadblocks! There were many roadblocks for us in this book! Choose at least two of the following words to explain and ‘clear the roadblock’ for.
Alabaster -
Cay - A little island in the middle of the sea
Jumbi - Bad luck
Langosta - A type of lobster
Malaria - A type of disease that makes you hot then cold and makes you forget what happened at the time.

Write down at least three things Phillip learnt whilst on the cay (for example, about himself, caring for others and life etc)
Philip learnt to respect people with dark skin and that are a different culture than him. He also learnt to survive on an island by himself. Another thing he learnt was that he didn't need his eyes to do stuff for example climb trees.

  1. You have really convinced me that you understand the “ITTM” strategy with our shared book “The Cay”. You are putting all of the sentences into your own words and are convincing your audience. You were able to clear all of our roadblocks yourself using prior knowledge.
