Strategy One is called tidy numbers.                                                Answer: 25
69 + 1 = 70 + ___ = 94

Strategy Two is called reversability.                                                    Answer: 25
94 - ___ = 69

The KNOWLEDGE I needed to solve this problem included being able to add and subtract confidently and knowing how to do the strategies. It also included being able to know where you have to flip it around for reversability.

10 x 9 = 90 + 6 x 9 = 54 + 90 = 144

Strategy Two is called tidy numbers                                                     Answer: 144
9 x 20 = 180 - (4 x 9 ) = 144

The KNOWLEDGE I needed to solve this problem included knowing your times tables and being able to add and subtract confidently.

24 divided by 8 = 3 so 3/24

Strategy Two is called family of facts                                                     Answer: 3/24 or 1/8
8 x __ = 24 = 3 so 3/24

The KNOWLEDGE I needed to solve this problem included knowing the different family of facts and how to use them.
